Cape Triple Hikes is an 11 day (10 nights) escorted hiking holiday to experience three different regions in the Western Cape, South Africa. Explore Cape Town highlights such as Table Mountain and Cape Point, the Cederberg mountains and the Kogelberg area. It is an ideal holiday for first time visitors to the Western Cape who enjoy hiking.
The Cape Triple Hikes tour starts and ends at Cape Town International Airport, offering a comprehensive hiking experience across Cape Town, the Cederberg (200 km from Cape Town), and the Kogelberg (about 80 km from Cape Town).
Highlights
Table Mountain
Table Mountain is one of the official New7Wonders of Nature, and the view from its summit is regarded as one of the most epic views in Africa. From the top, you’ll enjoy magnificent views over False Bay, the Constantia Valley, the Hottentot Holland Mountains, and a panoramic vista of the Table Mountain chain extending all the way to Cape Point. You’ll also see Table Bay, Robben Island, and Devil's Peak, with the City of Cape Town, Lion’s Head, Signal Hill, and Camps Bay coming into view.
Fynbos Plants and Wildlife
The Cape Floral Region, one of the world's six floral regions, is the smallest but richest, with over 9,000 species. It is also recognized as one of the world's 18 biodiversity hotspots.
Kirstenbosch and Harold Porter Botanical Gardens, Kogelberg Biosphere Reserve
These botanical gardens represent the Cape Floral Region and are recognized as World Heritage Sites, offering visitors the chance to explore the stunning diversity of fynbos plants and local wildlife.
Robben Island
A World Heritage Site and museum, Robben Island is steeped in history and can be visited from the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town.
Boulders and Stony Point Penguin Colonies
Home to breeding colonies of African penguins, these sites provide an up-close view of the charming and endangered bird species.
Chapman’s Peak Drive and Cape Point
Known for its stunning coastal views, Chapman’s Peak Drive offers breathtaking vistas, leading you to Cape Point where you’ll enjoy the dramatic meeting of the Indian and Atlantic Oceans.
Cederberg Wilderness Area
The distinctive red sandstone landscape and unique rock formations of the Cederberg are a highlight of the tour, offering magnificent views and sunsets. The area is also home to the endangered Clanwilliam Cedar, Cape Mountain Leopard, baboons, klipspringers, and more than 100 bird species.
Bushmen Rock Art
The Cederberg is rich in San rock art, with a range of ancient artworks that offer insights into the region’s early inhabitants.
Hiking Trails
A variety of hiking trails allow you to experience the diverse landscapes, wildlife, and rock formations of the region in a series of unforgettable treks.
The program is focused on the highlights and diversity of three regions in the Western Cape. We ensure that each day is interesting and well balanced in terms of walking and leisure. The itinerary is flexible and the day sequence of the program may vary, depending on weather conditions. The program below is an example.Arrive in Cape Town and transfer to chalet in the Cederberg, about 250 km from Cape Town.
Cederberg hikes: Disa Pool and Kromrivier Cave- about 3-4 hours and Truitjies Kraal- short drive and hike.
Overnight: Kromrivier
Cederberg hikes: Hike to Maltese Cross, Lots Wife and Window rocks.
Duration: About 5-6 hours
Overnight: Kromrivier
Hike to Middelberg waterfall at Algeria.
Transfer to the Kogelberg Nature Reserve. The reserve is known for its diverse fynbos. You will have different trail options, depending on the distance preferred and weather conditions. You can walk to the heart of the Kogelberg Nature Reserve for a wilderness experience or you can take a shorter walk along the Palmiet River where you can cool off with a swim.
Overnight: Betty's Bay/ Kleinmond
Transfer to the Kogelberg reserve and hike via the Leopard's Gorge route. On this trail you will walk through diverse fynbos vegetation and you can expect to see views of the coastline, shale forests, diverse terrain and various sandstone formations.Spend time in Harold Porter Botanical Gardens, which showcases a variety of indigenous coastal flora.
Overnight: Betty's Bay/ Kleinmond
Visit Stony Point, home to one of only two mainland African Penguin Colonies, alongside the ruins of the old whaling station and transfer to Cape Town. Visit Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens- a world heritage site.
Overnight: Cape Town
Ascend Table Mountain (1 052m) and hike towards the Cable car.
Overnight: Cape Town
Scenic Cape Peninsula drive via Chapmans Peak. Hike in the Cape Point Nature Reserve and visit the penguin colony at Boulders.
Overnight: Cape Town
Visit some of Cape Town's famed sites: the District Six Museum and/or Robben Island prison, or walk along Promenade to Camps Bay.

Explore the extensive V&A Waterfront for some last- minute shopping!

Yes. Navigation is straightforward with the recommended mobile app which has a map, trail summary and navigation functionality. Simply follow our Wikiloc installation instructions which will be provided with your Trip Information pack. Download the country map for offline use and follow the route on your phone with the assurance that navigation will be simple, and you’ll find your way. Local towns are usually signposted. Sections of the trail can be featureless and without directions but you will have electronic support.
We recommend that you arrange appropriate holiday insurance covering you against illness, injury, and loss or damage to luggage. This insurance should also cover the possibility of you having to cancel your holiday for whatever reason.

You will need a good quality mountain bike and your normal mountain biking gear for a day ride with perhaps some extra warm layers if the weather is cold. Your Trip information pack has a detailed equipment list which includes standard cycling gear.
The itinerary is designed to be enjoyable for a regular rider. If you currently don’t enjoy that level of fitness, then regular mountain biking supplemented by cardiovascular exercise for at least six months before your trip is recommended. Keep in mind the daily distances and changes in elevation in your daily itinerary. A good gym or personal trainer will be able to draw up a personalised training programme.
You can use local taxis to continue to your next overnight stop. Contact your Route Manager for advice and assistance.
Please be prepared by packing all necessary items, for example, proper rain gear (jacket and pants), sun hat, sunscreen. Your Trip Information pack has a detailed equipment list which includes standard walking gear such as good walking boots or shoes, warm and waterproof clothes for the cooler months and lightweight clothing for summer, and a day pack.
Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate walkers with dogs as many of the accommodation providers we use do not accept dogs.
Travel insurance is compulsory. It is required to cover cancellations, personal effects, personal accidents, medical and emergency travel expenses.

What to take:
Comfortable, well aerated clothes in keeping with the season. Always bring a pullover / windbreaker, good walking boots (already worn-in) and several pairs of cotton or wool socks. For your daily needs, you are advised to have a day-bag, a plastic bag to line your day-pack (to protect the contents from rain), rainwear, a sun-hat, sunglasses, sun block, a water bottle, plastic picnic boxes (for transporting your lunches), first-aid kit, camera, torch/flashlight and an extra plastic bag for litter.
